Environmental Balance "If I had thought about it, I wouldn't have done the experiment. The literature was full of examples that said you can't do this." --Spencer Silver on the work that led to the unique adhesives for 3-M "Post-It" Notepads.

Welcome to the ENVIRONMENTAL BALANCE
NOTE: Please visit our Sister Site at www.environmental-balance.net. This site is intended primarily as a way for the world to be certain of any consensus regarding Anthropogenic Climate Change - the registration component is still being worked on. As this issue continues to dominate headlines and drive government policies and personal actions, we are extremely concerned that the inaccuracies in the science oft quoted as certain will lead to a misdirection of efforts regarding any actual effects of a naturally changing climate. We are also concerned that the concentration on CO2 as the culprit of some predicted disaster is merely a means for the less than scrupulous to make money from carbon trading despite the damage it will do to societies, economies and environments in many parts of the world. All we ask is for the world to wake up and realize that it is very likely being conned rigid! Please help us to be accurate and, ultimately, in a position to be certain.
This site has been created to provide policy analysts with a balanced assessment of a number of environmental issues. LINK: Article & References for "Contrarian, or just Curious" from Place magazine. SEE: EB Blog for rationale and discussion of progress.
In
this world of spin, policy analysts must be extremely careful and
critical. Careful in selecting their data sources and intellectually
critical in their assessment of those data sources. Accurate and
un-spun data is much harder to come by than one would expect.
There
are no rewards for objectivity in this world, but rewards can take a
variety of forms for those willing to advance a subjective point of
view. Being right is cold comfort when one misses promotions,
research funding, or consulting income. This site is self-funded by Mike Flehr and Jade Holder. Any donations to our role as independent and objective analysts will be thankfully received, but any request to take a particular position regarding an issue we are assessing will be the subject of a press release by Urban Strategic Intelligence.
THE ISSUES:
Over time we will be investigating a number of environmental issues. The two we have selected to begin with are:
Each of these issues has global and strategic scope, and is the subject of a great deal of policy development at national, state, local and corporate levels. These issues are also seemingly related in that Global Warming is being blamed largely on the most prevalent existing sources for energy production... oil, natural gas and coal. | |||||
